About Us
One of the reasons that Frome Carnival is so special is that we are a registered charity, supporting individuals, organisations and good causes in the local area.
Our fundraising events throughout the year allow us to put on the carnival – which can cost many thousands of pounds. Once we’ve paid for that, any extra money – and most importantly, that which is donated to us during the processions – can be passed to the charity.

FROME CARNIVAL
This is to inform you that Frome’s annual carnival is taking place again this year on Saturday 23rd September, but it may well be the last one unless more funding is acquired.
Many people don’t know that the carnival is unique amongst Somerset’s carnivals, in that it is the only one which is a registered charity. As well as being a wonderful spectacle for the whole community, the event also raises thousands of pounds each year for the Carnival Charity. This money is then donated back into the local community to individuals, organisations and good causes. This really is Frome’s Carnival and Frome’s Charity and it relies on the goodwill and support of the people and businesses in the town. As a result of the procession collection being diverted into the charity account this means that the costs associated with putting the carnival on the road have to be met by other means wherever possible. This is raised by the committee holding events such as the Fun Day in June and the annual duck race and 100 club, by sponsorship, donations and grants.
EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS
A range of events are held throughout the year to bring joy to the community while raising essential funds for the initiatives we support across Frome. From competitions, to the annual Duck Race and Sponsored Walks, there is a lot to do and take part in for a good cause.
Not forgetting the biggest event of our calendar, our Annual Family Funday and Dog show.
CARNIVAL
This well loved and attended Carnival returns in 2023.
Established in 1929 this has long been the primary fundraiser towards the local clubs, care facilities and youth support that the Association contributes towards each year.
The Carnival holds a very special place in the heart of Frome, and we look forward to its return in the autumn.
Where does your money go?
The monies raised in this years Collection will not only be helping to ensure the future of the Frome Street Carnival, but it will be split between this years beneficiaries which are Wessex Counselling & Psychotherapy, FairFrome, Coleford Scout Hut and Frome Community Wardrobe (see below for details

Where does the money go?
Donations are given out to local individuals, organisations and good causes in the form of grants or the purchase of specific items.
In the last year, the charity has given away more money than ever before. We have, for example:
• Provided individuals with much needed household items, like white goods and carpets.
• Given £5000 to Fair Frome, allowing them to buy a van for their new furniture bank.
• Supported one of the Frome Primary Schools.
• Provided funding to Frome Refresh who donate toiletries and sanitary protection to vulnerable teenagers.
How can you help?
Firstly, please dig deep on carnival day. The more money that you donate, the more money there is for the charity.
We’d also love to hear from anyone who is interested in supporting us in some other way, through: volunteering, hosting a fundraising event, sponsorship or donating funds!
